Attractive and modern retirement home in the former dairy

New retirement home in Gästgivaren

The change is considerable. Originally, the building was a dairy. Today, it is an impressive and state-of-the-art residence for seniors clad in Argeton stick tiles. With its striking exterior façade, the building now contributes to enhancing the quality of life for residents, staff and the city. The unusual design adds an abundance of self-confidence to the surrounding area. Although virtually every property line is touched, the building is characterized by their spaciousness and the interior is characterized by clarity, which enhances the feeling of openness.

The impressive facade gives a feeling of warmth and naturalness

The Argeton Barro bar tiles are hard to miss and have a harmonious effect on their viewers as a whole. The impressive facade consists of rods of terracotta, which in combination with standing wood cladding are placed in groups on the facade. This ensemble divides the size of the house and gives a feeling of warmth and naturalness. Thanks to the bold colors and shadow effect, the color and tone of the house changes when you move - this gives life and impact. The result is a soft atmosphere, which perfectly blends with the natural environment.

All in all, this building is unique

The five-story building with general area, service facilities and special accommodations was to be a home for all - a part of Skillingaryd. Subsequently, the residents of the house would feel strongly connected to life outside the house. Indeed, behind the facade are nursing homes, social housing, restaurant, gym, spa, activity facilities and offices. The building wing is divided according to these functions. The accommodation is located on the main street to connect with the social life of the city. The retirement home is nestled in nature, right on the other side of the building to be able to create a quiet and safe life for the residents.

Matt patterson: "It's important that the building is not perceived as a closed unit for those who live there - you should get a connection to nature, to life in Storgatan and to what's happening in the conservatory."

The staff rooms and offices have their own area in the middle of the building. Even the entrance is a bit of a sight; it is more reminiscent of a hotel lobby than a traditional entrance. From here, all of the building's functions can be accessed from a single stairwell. Throughout the building, a path leads to the winter garden - accessible from all floors. An oasis for residents and visitors. Finally, the roofs clad with solar panels provide a varied and effective setting, making the entirety of the building impressive and extremely special.

Implementation with strong partners

The project was approached to the planning office 3LT in Sweden because it required a customized design. Argeton vertically arranged, differently colored glazed stick tiles were able to meet the requirements. 3LT thus had the chance to shine with customized solutions that were not only suitable for the general contractor, but also for the city and the architects. The natural terracotta products of Argeton made it possible to turn the architects' visions into reality. In doing so, 3LT brought together in a highly professional way all its corporate structures in the field of design, production and installation. With the Argeton Barros it was possible to satisfy the architects' color request and with the, as well as the technical support during the sales phase and, of course, the price-quality ratio. Through openness and transparency, Argeton and 3LT were able to successfully implement past projects and make this project a success as well.
